Nirvana is a best-of compilation album by the American rock band Nirvana, released in October, 2002. It was the third Nirvana album to be released following the death of vocalist and guitarist Kurt Cobain in April 1994, and the first to feature studio material. It is also the band's first best-of compilation. The compilation features the previously-unreleased You Know You're Right, a song recorded in January 1994 during Nirvana's final studio session. It also includes a chronological selection. Nirvana's best tracks - not necessarily the same thing as Cobain's best songs, although they frequently overlapped - were buried on album tracks, B-sides, stray singles, so there's no good criteria for why, say, Dumb makes the cut and Aneurysm doesn't. Текст песни: You numb the pain Screw the truth away Let me breathe in your air till I choke in it Baby, love the way that you hate your the point when Nirvana played the famous festival a year earlier, in the summer of 1991, they were halfway down the bill. Theyd released their first record, Bleach, on Sub Pop in 1989, but despite critical approval, it hadnt troubled the charts. The Nevermind album and its seminal opening single, Smells Like Teen Spirit, were still a couple of months from release at the time of Reading 1991. When they came back, on 30 August 1992, Nirvana were a multi-platinum sensation and the biggest thing in rock music for a generation. Nevermind had started a five-year run on the Billboard 200 that would deliver US sales alone of ten million copies. When Nirvana covered the Vaselines song with its title slightly altered on MTV Unplugged, Kurt called it a rendition of an old Christian song, and it was generally mistaken for a gospel number, which it couldnt be less like. In fact, it had been a staple of Nirvanas live repertoire for years already: They first played it on stage the day Nevermind came out in America. The very first sound we hear on the very first Nirvana studio album Krist Novoselics rumbling seven-note bass figure in Blew is so low-toned as to be almost indecipherable. The reason. The frontman went on to say, Its hard for me to understand the need for a vice like that, but I can appreciate it, too. This is number 1 due to its popularity and nothing more its actually the weakest Nirvana album excluding Live and Complication albums only about 13 of it is what I would say is worth listening to while the other 23 is either forgettable, alright or just awful Endless, Nameless so listen to all of their albums before voting for this one. even the band members hated this album. No controversy here However alternative you consider yourself within alternative rock, this is one you'll return to endlessly. This is absolutely the best Nirvana album made. This isn't just pure grunge but when Kurt Cobain was at his best. All these songs are awesome. This was by far my favorite album. Even the 2002 greatest hits album had non-album material. Not to mention the tons of Nirvana bootlegs that have surfaced over the years, which are home to some crucial recordings. Nirvana diehards probably know all of this, but approaching the hours and hours of the band's available non-album material for the first time can be intimidating. If you're looking for a good place to start - or you're a longtime fan who might like a playlist that narrows down all of this material to the strongest moments - here is a list of Nirvana's 15 best non-album songs.
