Seven Steps: The Complete Columbia Recordings of Miles Davis 19631964 is a box set of studio and concert recordings by Miles Davis for Columbia over a two-year period. Instead of focusing on a particular collaboration or session period, it focuses on the time period in between the solidified lineups of the first and second Great Quintets, starting with Ron Carter's introduction and finishing with the establishment of Wayne Shorter in the lineup. Herbie Hancock enters the picture in July of 1963, replacing Feldman for the Live in Europe recording. The box includes unreleased performances of Bye Bye Blackbird and The Theme in addition to the original album. Other unreleased material here includes a fine Autumn Leaves from the live dates that resulted in the albums Four & More and My Funny Valentine as well as those recordings in their entirety. The cornerstones of the MILES DAVIS COLUMBIA box set are the studio and live albums that were released during his tenure at the label, more than 40 titles that he recorded in the 1950s, 60s, 70s and 80s. The vast majority of these were released around the time of their recording or soon after others appeared as historic discoveries years later. Album 2004 50 Songs. Albums You May Also Like.
